What this Blog is About

Starting today, this Blog will take on a new look and purpose. I will fully and completely explore what I have learned from years of working in the real estate industry and studying the world of real estate. Many real estate agents fail or underperform and, as a result, leave the industry. Many retain their real estate licenses, hoping to try again or use their licenses to buy real estate for themselves.

This blog will explore what years of study have uncovered about why many real estate agents struggle and often fail. The material is mainly from my book, The Architecture of the Real Estate Practice. Let’s begin by setting the stage for this discussion with an excerpt from my book.

Why So Many Struggle to Succeed…

“Many people aim to become successful real estate agents, and the road to accomplishing this goal can be fraught with obstacles. Building a clientele, keeping up with market changes, and negotiating regulatory requirements are all challenges that new agents must confront. However, new agents can gain significant insights and approaches for effectively navigating the market by first gaining knowledge of the common challenges they face and then learning from examples taken from real life. New real estate agents can fully grasp the real estate industry, its obstacles, and the best strategies for overcoming those challenges to be successful in their careers by studying various case studies and examples.”

Let’s begin with a Case Study...

“Providing advice and guidance to a young man who sought to become a real estate agent provides an interesting case study for us to consider. Darren Warren shared his thoughts about becoming a REALTOR®. His top three reasons for pursuing a career in real estate were:

·       Significant Income

·       Freedom and Flexibility in the Work Schedule

·       Being his boss…

Like many others, he has misconceptions about the industry and what it will take to become a successful real estate agent. Darren had no idea how much capital would be required to begin a career in real estate or how to project how much money he would net on a $400,000 sale. I have met and interviewed many who have given me insight into what causes a person to choose a real estate career.”

What are your reasons for being a real estate agent?

Take the time to reflect and examine, within your own mind, what you hope to accomplish in your real estate career. In essence, why are you in this business?

Come back next Monday for my next post on this Blog.
